These settings currently scope only to your public profile link. They don't yet hide fields from members you're already matched or connected with inside the app.
Your visibility toggles control what appears on your public share-link and QR profile page. They do not hide your email or phone from members you've already matched with or connected with inside the app.
This is the single most important thing to understand about privacy on Genius Networking, so we want to say it plainly rather than bury it in fine print.
On your profile page, Email, Phone, Country, City, State/Province, LinkedIn, and Website each have a visibility toggle, on by default. These toggles control what shows on your public profile page, the one someone sees when they scan your QR code or open your custom link.
These toggles do not hide your email or phone from members you've already matched with or connected with inside the app. Your Matches and Your Network views show those fields directly once you're matched or connected, regardless of your visibility toggle settings.
Think of it this way: your toggles control what's visible on your public profile link, the one you'd hand to a stranger at an event or share on a business card. Once you're matched or connected with someone in the app, they can see your contact details directly, the same as anyone you'd exchange contact information with in person.
Matches and connections are people the platform has already introduced you to, or people you've chosen to add to your network. Once that relationship exists, contact details are shared directly so you can actually follow up, the same as trading a business card would.
If a field is turned off, it simply won't appear on the public profile page that anyone with your link can view, including people you've never met or matched with.
If I turn off my phone number toggle, who still sees my number?
It disappears from your public profile link, but anyone you're already matched with or connected to inside the app still sees your number directly in Matches or Your Network.
Does turning off a toggle remove the field from people I'm already connected with?
No. The toggle only affects your public share-link and QR profile page, not what matched or connected members see inside the app.
Is this ever going to change?
This is a known limitation of how visibility currently works, and it's worth understanding today rather than assuming a toggle means "nobody can see this."
