After you save your matching preferences, new and updated matches are recalculated on a nightly schedule, so changes show up the next day rather than immediately.
It's tempting to save a preference change and immediately check your Matches page expecting something new. Here's what's actually happening behind that.
When you save your matching preferences, you'll see a message along the lines of "your introductions will refresh shortly." That wording describes the process starting, not finishing: the actual recalculation runs on a nightly schedule rather than the moment you click away from the page.
Changes to your preferences take effect the next day, not instantly. If you don't see new matches right after saving, that's expected: there's no need to keep refreshing the page.
Double-check your preferences are saved the way you want them (you'll see the same autosave confirmation used elsewhere in the app), and check back the next day. There's nothing further you need to do to trigger the update: it happens on its own overnight.
This nightly timing applies to preference changes. It doesn't affect introductions you've already received, which stay exactly as they are until the next recalculation touches them.
Why don't I see new matches right after saving my preferences?
Matches are recalculated overnight, not the moment you save. Check back the next day rather than refreshing repeatedly.
Does the "your introductions will refresh shortly" message mean it's instant?
No, it describes the process kicking off, but the actual update happens on a nightly schedule.
Will changing my preferences affect matches I already have?
Your existing matches stay as they are until the next nightly recalculation reflects your updated preferences.
