Onboarding is seven steps inside the app that tell us who you are, who you serve, and who you want to meet: finishing it unlocks your first introductions immediately.

Onboarding happens in one continuous flow inside the app: there's no separate page or link for each step, just seven short screens back to back.

  1. Photo: Your photo helps people recognize you before you meet. It's the first thing another member sees when an introduction comes through.
  2. What You Do: Your title, company, and a short bio, so people understand your work at a glance.
  3. Industries You Serve: The industries and clients you already work with.
  4. Who To Meet: The industries and titles you're hoping to be introduced to. This is one of the most important steps: it directly shapes your matches.
  5. Goals: Choose what you're after: referrals, partnerships, hiring, clients, investors, or learning from others. You can select more than one.
  6. Location: Your city. Genius Networking is built around real, local events, so this matters.
  7. Extended Bio: An optional deeper bio, if you want to give people more to go on.

After step seven, you'll land on a confirmation screen with one button: 'See Your Introductions.' That's not just a label: finishing onboarding is what puts your matching in motion.

A few introductions unlock as soon as you finish onboarding, based on your membership tier. The rest stay locked and blurred until later. You'll always be able to see that more are coming.

How long does onboarding take?

Just a few minutes. Most of the steps are short: a photo, a few fields about your work, and some selections.

Can I skip any steps?

The extended bio in step 7 is optional. The rest ask for information that directly shapes your introductions, so it's worth filling them out honestly.

What happens right after I finish?

You're taken to a confirmation screen and then to your matches page, where a few introductions are already unlocked based on your membership tier.

Why does 'Who To Meet' matter so much?

It's one of the clearest signals we have for who to introduce you to: it tells us directly what you're looking for, rather than us guessing from your industry alone.
