Both the "I'm Hiring" and "Open to New Opportunities" toggles open a role picker that requires you to choose at least one role: if you close it without picking one, the toggle switches back off.
Under "Hiring & Opportunities" in your matching preferences, two toggles let other members know what you're looking for right now.
Both toggles require at least one role selection to stay on. If you close the role picker without choosing a role, the toggle reverts back off on its own: it won't stay switched on with an empty role list.
You can pick more than one role for either toggle, and you can come back and adjust your selections at any time by reopening the picker.
Why did my "I'm hiring" toggle turn itself back off?
That happens when the role picker is closed without a role selected. At least one role is required for the toggle to stay on.
Can I select more than one role?
Yes, for either toggle you can choose as many roles as apply.
Can I change my role selections later?
Yes, reopen the toggle's role picker any time to add or remove roles.
